Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer dominates Knox in 11-0 shutout

GALESBURG, IL- The Transylvania women's soccer team (3-1-1) were back on the road as they faced Knox College (0-5) for the first of 2 games this weekend. Knox College is coming off a loss to Lakeland University but has played and lost to Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Rose- Hulman Institute of Technology earlier in this season, giving Transy a good school to measure other HCAC teams against.

The First Half

In the first half Transylvania made sure to distance themselves from their previous competition by relentlessly attacking from the first whistle. It would seem that the previous loss lit a fire under the team with senior Meron Roach leading the charge. Roach would score the first two goals for the Pioneers with the first coming in the 4th minute, then her second goal of the half would come in the 8th minute, both being unassisted. This would only start the offensive juggernaut as the Pioneers would go on to dominate this half, and game, racking in 6 goals in the first half.

The third goal of the game would be scored by Issabella White, unassisted, giving her a 4th goal on the season. That was followed by a goal Allison O'hara, as she would be assisted by Abbey Rowe giving O'hara her second goal of the season and Rowe her first assist of the season. Ciana Araya scored the 5th goal of the game as this would mark her first colligate goal of her career. This half would be capped by Araya, who scored the final goal before the half off an assist to Rachel Green, sending Transy up an overwhelming 6-0 at half.

The Second Half

In the Second half this game would continue to be all Transy, with the Pioneers continuing the onslaught in the lopsided win.  Transy would score five more goals this half while keeping a clean sheet. Maddi Benjamin scored the 6th goal of the game being assisted by Roach. Roach would tac on another goal in the 54th minute, a hat trick for her first trio of goals this year. Scoring for the Pioneers would be finalized by Caitlin Fike and a second of the by Allison O'Hara in the 84th and 85th minutes. Transylvania wouldn't ler Knox attempt a shot the whole game and only allowing 1 corner the whole game, which came in the first half. Transy would set a game high 11 goals in this match. Its the most girls for the Pioneers in over 5 seasons.

Up next for the Pioneers is a continuation of their Illinois trip as they play North Central College tomorrow at 3PM. This is the last away game before conference play as the Pioneers will play one more game after North Central before facing HCAC competition.
