Napierville, IL- The Transylvania women's soccer team (4-1-1) was back in action rounding out their weekend road trip against North Central College (5-2). The Pioneers are coming off an avalanche of a win after defeating Knox College 11-0 yesterday with Meron Roach having a hat trick herself. North Central is coming off a 7-1 win against Kalamazoo College boasting an effective offense themselves. With both teams playing just the day before it was apparent this would be a closely contested match coming down to execution.
The First Half
In the first half the Pioneers would play with the aggressive energy they had the previous night effectively scoring the first goal in the 21st minute. This goal would be scored by Junior Caitlin Fike to put the Pioneers up one early on. Fike picking up where she left off yesterday scoring a goal in that game as well, this would be Fike's second goal of the season. From here on this would be a one sided affair as Trasny would be facing North Central's offense surviving until halftime to make it 1-0.
The Second Half
In the Second half Transy could not get the motor running and faced a North Central attack that just out shot the Pioneers. Transy would be outshot this game by 14 attempts while only producing 2 corner kicks to North Central's 9. These overwhelming numbers caused the eventuality of two goals getting by the Transylvania defense in the 56th and 83rd minutes. Chandler Worth has continued her start in goal for the Pioneers who despite the goals, played well setting a new career high of 8 saves in this game. This game would end in a loss, finalizing at 1-2.
Up next for the Pioneers is a nice home stent before facing off against Fontbonne University Wednesday September 20th at 7PM. This will be the final out of conference game for the Pioneers before Bluffton opens HCAC play.
