Transy Softball continues to roll, moves to 6-0 in the HCAC after wins over Bluffton

LEXINGTON - Transylvania Softball continued their hot streak, improving their record to 17-6 overall and 6-0 in the HCAC after sweeping Bluffton in a dominant all around showing. The Pioneers won game one 13-0 in 5 innings and 19-1 in 5 innings.

With the back-to-back mercy rule wins, Transylvania has won 4 of their first 6 conference games in 5 innings.

Transylvania jumped out to a big lead right away. Stella Wulker's two run home run opened the scoring and was the start of an 8 run inning. Carson Murray brought in the next three runs on a home run to center field. Both home run balls rang off the light pole in center field.

Dakota Burke brought in Transy's sixth run of the inning on a single, and Ella Steczynski made it 8-0 with a 2 run single.

The offense tacked on 4 more runs in the second with home runs by Izzy Story and Murray's second of the game. Ry'Ann Tharp single to right field to score Katie Mewes made it 12-0 after 2 innings.

In the fourth inning, Emily Shearer grounded out to shortstop to bring in Regan Rouleau for the Pioneers' 13th and final run of the game.

Transys pitching staff shutout the Beavers for the 5th time in program history after a 3 innings no-hit performance by Carlee Jeter, who moved to 8-3 on the season. Ava Manning and Jada Erwin kept the shutout in tact, both pitching a scoreless inning.

In game two, Transylvania scored their most runs in a game so far this season as the offense exploded for 17 hits and 19 runs over 5 innings. The Pioneers plated 7 runs in the first on RBI singles by Avery Parsons and Dakota Burke, and extra base hit RBI's by Regan Rouleau and Katie Mewes. Carson Murray launched her third home run of the afternoon, a two run shot that scored Parsons.

Murray's RBI double in the second inning made it 8-0 Transy, and the Pioneers 5 run third inning put the game out of reach. Wulker would hit her second home run of the game in the inning to cap off a 4 RBI day.

The Pioneer pitching continued to roll in game two. Sophie Moshos would improve to 8-2 on the year after striking out 6 batters over 3 innings and allowing no hits. Trinity Bridges pitched 1.1 innings in relief and allowed no hits. Natalie Contreras recorded the final 2 outs to finish the game.

The Beavers were held hitless through 4.1 innings.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, Emily Hestand hit her 2nd career home run, a grand slam that tied her in the game two lead in RBI's. It's her first home run since the 2022 season.

Transylvania has now outscored their conference opponents 67-4 to open the conference slate.

Up next: Transylvania returns to John and Donna Hall Field tomorrow for a 1 PM doubleheader against Mount St. Joseph.
