WILMINGTON, OH - Transylvania earned two road wins to improve to an impressive 20-3, defeating Wilmington College in a double header on Monday.
Game One: Transylvania 12, Wilmington 2
The Pioneer offense was impressive as Transylvania started building an early lead in the first inning. Young doubled to left center field to earn an RBI, allowing Rouleau to score. Parsons followed with a single to right field earning an RBI as Young scored. Maddie Goddard then doubled to left center to earn an RBI as Parsons scored, giving Transylvania a 3-0 lead in the first.
In the second inning, Ingram scored as Rouleau was called out on a bunt due to batter's interference, Mewes advanced to third as Ingram scored. In the third inning, Tharp doubled to left center, earning two RBI's as Goddard and Young scored. Transylvania would close the victory in the sixth inning as they would score six runs in the sixth. Steczynski singled to left field but advanced to second on the throw, Mewes scored at home on the throw. Burke tripled to right center to earn an RBI as Steczynski scored, Parsons advanced to second and Young advanced to third, allowing Burke to score on a throwing error by Wilmington's catcher. Leading 9-2, Transylvania would secure the victory with a home run from Goddard, driving three runs in as Parsons and Young scored.
Natalie Contreras earned the victory at the mound, pitching two innings and only allowing two hits.
Game Two: Transylvania 4, Wilmington 2
Transylvania would utilize another strong start to lead 2-0 after the first inning. Burke doubled to left center field, earning an RBI as Steczynski scored. Parsons would double to left center, earning an RBI as Burke scored.
In the fifth, Steczynski doubled to left center field, allowing Ingram to score for another RBI for the Pioneers credited to Steczynski. Burke flied out to center field on a sac fly, earning an RBI as Mewes advanced to third and Steczynski scored.
Leading 4-0 after the fifth, Transylvania would give up two runs to Wilmington, one in the fifth and one in the seventh, but would ultimately hold on for the 4-2 victory.
Trinity Bridges earned the victory at the mound, pitching six innings and only allowing four hits and two runs.
