LEXINGTON, KY – Transylvania defeated Mount St. Joseph at John and Donna Hall Field 7-2 on Saturday, claiming the 2025 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Championship.
In the bottom of the first, with two outs, Transylvania's offense found a spark.
Dakota Burke singled to left field, earning an RBI as
Ella Steczynski scored. With the bases loaded, RyAnn Tharp singled to second base, earning an RBI courtesy of a run home for
Emilie Young. The Pioneers led 2-0 after the first inning.
Mount St. Joseph responded in the top of the second, scoring two runs to tie the score.
In the fourth inning,
Avery Parsons hit a home run that drove Mewes and Ingram home for a three run lead. Later in the inning,
Reagan Rouleau stole third base, but then stole home on a throwing error that gave the Pioneers a 6-2 lead.
In the bottom of the sixth, Young drove in an RBI as Parsons scored off her sac fly to center field.
Transylvania held the lead and closed the victory to claim the 2025 HCAC Softball Championship, earning an automatic bid to the 2025 NCAA National Tournament.
