Box Score HANOVER, Ind. - Transylvania freshman Ashley Hatfield (Pikeville, Ky.) poured in a career-high 19 points Wednesday, but it wasn't enough to keep Hanover from posting a 68-60 overtime win over the Pioneers in the Heartland Conference opener for both teams.

Transy saw its two-game winning streak end and fell to 2-2 on the season, 0-1 in HCAC play, while the Panthers are 3-2, 1-0 HCAC.

Hatfield was eight of 16 from the field and grabbed six rebounds. He was two of seven from behind the three-point line. Sophomore Brandon Rash (Mt. Sterling, Ky.) added 15 points, six rebounds, and three assists before fouling out of the contest.

Ethan Spurlin (Stanford, Ky.) had eight points and five rebounds off the bench.

The Pioneers held Hanover to 31 percent shooting in a tight first half that saw neither team lead by more than five points as Transy led 25-24 at the break. Rash had eight points in the half and Hatfield added five to lead Transy while Mitchell Meyer netted seven to top the Panthers.

Hanover hit eight of 26 from the field in the opening 20 minutes, including three of 12 from long range, while Transy was 11 of 23 for 48 percent.

Transy led by as many as nine points mid way through the second half before the Panthers mounted their comeback.

Spurlin's layup gave Transy a 53-50 lead with 2:10 left in regulation, but free throws by Meyer tied it with just under a minute to go, sending the game to overtime.

Hanover outscored the Pioneers 15-7 in overtime, leading by as many as nine points before claiming the eight-point victory. Mitchell had 21 points and nine rebounds to pace the Panthers, who shot 43 percent from the field and outscored Transy 15-8 from the free throw line.

Transy shot 41 percent from the field, including a four for 19 effort from long range.

The Pioneers are back in HCAC action on Saturday, traveling to Bluffton for a 4 p.m. matchup.
