Box Score FRANKLIN, Ind. - Transylvania shot a blazing 67 percent from the field in the second half Thursday and went on to a 71-57 win over Franklin in men's Heartland Conference basketball play.

Transy is 14-6 overall, 8-5 HCAC, while the Grizzlies are 7-13, 5-8 in league play. The game was postponed 24 hours due to weather conditions in Indiana.

Transy led by seven at halftime, then convered 14 of 21 second half shots to pull away from the Grizzlies. The Pioneers finished the game shooting 54 percent compared to an even 50 percent for the home team. Transy also benefitted from a cold shooting night at the free throw line for Franklin, which turned in a 10 of 22 effort.

The Pioneers also had a 33-23 edge in rebounding.

Transy placed three players in double figures, led by Ethan Spurlin (Stanford, Ky.)'s 19 and 14 off the bench by Chris Owens (Maysville, Ky.). Brandon Rash (Mt. Sterling, Ky.) had 12 points and five rebounds.

Will Conoley led Franklin with 16 points and eight rebounds and Gunner Erwin finished with 11 points.

The Pioneers led by as many as 10 points in the first half, which ended with Transy in control, 31-24. The Pioneers shot 48 percent from the field in the period compared to Franklin's 43.8 percent.

Owens and Spurlin paced Transy over the first 20 minutes with six points each. Erwin canned eight points for the Grizzlies, who kept in the contest by making eight of 15 free throws to three of four for Transy.

Transy is back is the Beck Center on Saturday, hosting Defiance in a 1 p.m. contest that will be televised live by WKYT-TV, Channel 27 in Lexington. It will also be a Coaches vs. Cancer fund-raising event.
