LEXINGTON, Ky. - Transylvania combined a strong defensive effort with a late
Christian King goal Wednesday and posted a 1-0 men's soccer win over Franklin in Heartland Conference action at Thomas Field.
The Pioneers won their seventh straight contest to push their record to 10-1-1, 4-0 in conference play, while Franklin is 4-6-2, 2-1-1 in the league.
Transy battled the Grizzlies evenly, although taking 15 shots to just two for the visitors. Transy had a 9-1 edge in shots in the second half, including King's game-winner off an
Eric Froschauer assist in the 74th minute.
It was the fourth goal for King in his last two games.
Taylor Nossokoff had the win in goal, getting one save. The Pioneers had a 12-1 edge in corners.
Kyle Smith had five shots for Transy while
Taylor Ballard and Froschauer each tried three.
Transy will try to maintain its HCAC lead on Saturday, when it travels to Rose-Hulman to face the Engineers, who are in second place in the league.
