TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Transylvania was held to just three hits and an unearned run Saturday while dropping a 6-1 Heartland Conference baseball decision to Rose-Hulman.
The Pioneers are 13-12 overall, 6-6 in HCAC play, while the Engineers improve to 10-14, 7-4 in conference play.
Transy's only run came in the third when
Hunter Jones reached on a error and eventually scored on a double play ball by
Graham Winchester.
That tied the game at 1-1 but the Engineers scored twice in the bottom of the frame and got three more in the fourth. Rose-Hulman had 11 hits and committed two errors.
Zach Bynum, Jones, and
Hunter Voshell had Transy's hits, all singles.
Jamie King went the distance on the mound for the Pioneers, surrendering 11 hits and six earned runs. He fanned five and walked one.
The three-game set continues Sunday with a doubleheader beginning at noon.
