LEXINGTON, Ky. - Hanover broke open a tight game with four unearned runs in the ninth inning Tuesday and went on to an 8-1 win over Transylvania in collegiate baseball action at Marquard Field.
The Pioneers are 9-10 overall, 3-4 in Heartland Conference play, while the Panthers are 12-8, 5-2 HCAC.
Hanover took a 3-0 lead in the second inning, then tacked on another score in the third. Transy cut its deficit to 4-1 with a run in the fifth on a pair of walks, a hit batter, and a run-scoring fielder's choice by
Nick Edwards.

Elliot Desilets for four unearned runs in the ninth.
Matt Birkenhauer came on to the get the final out.
Transy starter
Ryan James went the first three innings, allowing four hits and three earned runs to take the loss. He was followed to the mound by
Kameron Schwartz,
Shelby Dixon,
Graham Winchester, Desilets, and Birkenhauer. They combined for nine strikeouts and no earned runs.
