Box Score RICHMOND, Ind. --- The Men's Soccer team traveled to Earlham College in a mid-week action to battle the conference rival in hopes of gaining traction in the HCAC standings as the half-way point of the season passes. Despite a statistically similar numbers, the Pioneers were defeated by a score of 2-0.
The Pioneers defense stiffened as it continued to hold Earlham scoreless in the first half pushing its scoreless minute's streak to 237 before relinquishing a goal at in the 37th minute. Jacob Ebbs pushed in a goal for Earlham on the assist by Vojislav Tatarevic. Transy had multiple scoring opportunities throughout the game with Junior Freddie Siegelman getting fours in the box, but none finding the back of the net. Jacob Gantt also had good looks at the net with two shots on goal, also with no avail. Earlham netted their final goal in the 71st minute from Brett Marshall to give the final score of 2-0.
While the game stats were similar in most categories, Earlham held a 14-10 advantage in shots. Both teams were even in the shots on goal stat line with five each. Riley Calhoon, Matt Melzer, and Tyler Joy-Brandon each chipped in with one shot on goal.
The Pioneers (5-3-5, HCAC 2-1-1) remain on the road traveling to conference rival Defiance (4-8, HCAC 0-3) on Saturday, October 17th, Match time is set for 3:30 p.m.
