ANDERSON, Ind.—After relenting an early goal to host Anderson University, the Transylvania University men's soccer team rallied with four unanswered goals to earn a 4-1 victory over the Ravens. With the win, the Pioneers clinched a four seed in the upcoming Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament.

The Ravens jumped out to an early lead, scoring in the sixth minute to grab a one-goal advantage. The score would hold a 1-0 until the 37:11 mark when midfielder Jonathan Rase drove a shot into the back of the net on a rebound attempt. The goal energized the Pioneers' offense, who fired off 13 shots in the opening period.

The second half was all Transylvania, who routed Anderson in dominating fashion in the closing period. The Pioneers started things with a bang just three minutes into the second half when midfielder Josh Morgan scored his second goal of the season to put Transy in the lead.

Less than five minutes later, it was forward Blake Chidester who extended the Pioneers' lead, taking possession of the ball near midfield and weaving his way through the Ravens' defense and scoring from just inside the box, making the score 3-1. At the 60:48 mark, midfielder Nick Blackwell score the final Transylvania goal by way of a free kick.

Transy dominated on both sides of the ball, finding shooting lanes early and often in the match, consistently applying pressure to the Anderson goalkeeper and defensively limiting genuine scoring opportunities for the Ravens. Transylvania managed to take 24 shots (16 SOG) while holding Anderson to just seven shots on target. Goalkeeper Cody Waltrip recorded four saves in the contest and Nathan Tippenhauer tallied three saves in 15 minutes of relief work.

Transylvania (8-3-7, 5-1-3 HCAC) will face Hanover College in the opening round of the HCAC tournament on Tuesday at 2:00pm.
