ANDERSON, Ind.—The Pioneer baseball team was unable to pick up a much needed Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference win on Saturday, dropping two games to the host Anderson University Ravens. Transy managed just one run in the first game and fell in the second game 9-3.

Game one saw Anderson score at least one run in each of the last seven innings, en route to an 11-1 victory. The Pioneers tallied just five hits in the game, scoring their lone run on an RBI from designated hitter Connor Blevins in the six inning.

Starting pitcher Jamie King earned the loss, going five innings and allowing seven runs, five earned, and striking out three. Ryan Bale and Jack Nofstger combined to throw the final three innings, giving up four runs on six hits.

In game two, Anderson jumped out to a 6-0 lead, scoring one in the first, three in the second, one in the fourth and one in the sixth. The Pioneers chipped into the lead in the top of the seventh scoring three runs in the frame. First baseman Taylor Henley drew a one-out walk and shortstop Aaron Johnson picked up an infield single Center fielder Trey Simpson singled to load the bases with one out. After a strikeout, a passed ball allowed one run to score and move runners to second and third. Blevins doubled to right center, scoring Simpson and Johnson, picking up two RBIs.

It would be the final time the Pioneers scored in the game but Anderson added three more runs to seal the 9-3 victory.

Seven Pioneers notched hits as Transylvania picked up 10 hits in the contest with Simpson, left fielder Hunter Voshell and second baseman Rex Rogers each recording two. Blevins' had the only RBIs for the Pioneers in the game with his seventh inning double. Starting pitcher Adam Boone allowed four runs in just two innings of work to take the loss on the mound for Transy.

Transylvania (11-22, 7-14 HCAC) will look for a win tomorrow in the series finale against Anderson. First pitch is slated for 3:45 p.m.
