Transylvania men's lacrosse rolls to victory at Earlham in HCLC contest

Richmond, Ind. -  The Transylvania men's lacrosse team put on an offensive showcase en route to a 24-1 victory over the Earlham College Quakers at Darrell Beane Stadium on Wednesday night.  

The Pioneers' record improves to 5-3 overall and 2-0 in Heartland Collegiate Lacrosse Conference play with the victory while the Quakers fall to 1-5 overall and 1-2 in league play.

Leading the way for Transylvania was Bryce Lowe, who scored a career-high six goals, scooped three ground balls, and recorded an assist.

Nic Bailey also turned in a prolific offensive performance for Transylvania that consisted of three goals, two assists, and three ground balls. Altogether, 12 different Pioneers scored in the lopsided victory.

The Pioneers jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead thanks to a trio of goals from Lowe in the first three minutes of the game. Transylvania went on to six more goals in the period, pushing their lead to 9-0 at the end of the first quarter.

Earlham got on the board with a goal in the second quarter, but the Pioneers continued to dominate the Quakers offensively and held a 17-1 lead at the halftime intermission.

In the second half, the Pioneers made extensive use of their reserves as they cruised to the 24-1 victory.

Transylvania dominated Earlham in every aspect of the game. Offensively, the Pioneers outshot the Quakers 59-7 and were a near-perfect 26-for-29 on face-off attempts.

Defensively, the Pioneers collected 60 ground balls in comparison to just 27 for the Quakers. Leading Transylvania was Kris Stone, who collected a career-high 12 ground balls in the victory.  

The Pioneers will be back in action on Saturday, March 23 when they travel to Anderson, Indiana for an HCLC matchup with the Anderson University Ravens. The game is set for a 1:00 p.m. start at Macholtz Stadium.
