Lowe ignites high-powered offense for Transylvania men’s lacrosse at Depauw

Greencastle, Ind. - Bryce Lowe scored a season-high five goals as the Transylvania men's lacrosse team claimed an emphatic 17-7 victory over the DePauw University Tigers at Reavis Stadium on Wednesday night.

Transylvania posted its highest scoring game of the season to move to 3-1 overall while Depauw fell to 1-2.

The Pioneers took a 1-0 lead just 30 seconds into the game via a goal by Kayd Aquino. Following a scoring burst by the Tigers to take the lead, the Pioneers leveled the score at 3-3 with Lowe's first goal of the day.

Led by Trenton Sneed's two goals, the Pioneers outscored the Tigers 3-1 in the second quarter to take a 6-4 lead at the halftime break.

Despite a two-goal burst by DePauw to start the second half, the Pioneers reeled off three straight goals, including two more by Lowe to reclaim the lead, 9-6, at the end of the third quarter.

Leading by just three goals, the Pioneers employed a ferocious offensive attack over the final 15 minutes of play, outscoring DePauw 8-1 to claim the 17-7 victory. Six different Pioneers scored goals across the emphatic fourth quarter.

In addition to the Pioneers' impressive offensive execution on Wednesday, Transylvania's defense was also effective in holding the Tigers to just seven goals. Evan Deskins tallied a team-best three caused turnovers and scooped up five ground balls.

Transylvania goalkeeper Michael Webb continued to build upon his strong start to the season, collecting 14 saves against just seven goals allowed. The senior also collected a team-high six ground balls in the victory.

The Pioneers will look to claim their third straight victory when they match up against the Birmingham-Southern College Panthers on Friday, March 12, in Transylvania's first home game of the season. Opening face-off between the Pioneers and Panthers is set for 6:00 p.m. at Pat Deacon Stadium.
