Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Transylvania’s 2020-21 run ends in HCAC Men’s Soccer Championship Match at Rose-Hulman

Terre Haute, Ind. – The Transylvania men's soccer team endured a 3-0 loss to the Rose-Hulman Fightin' Engineers in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship match at the Rose-Hulman Intramural Field on Friday night.

After the loss, the Pioneers' final record stands at 8-2 while the Fightin' Engineers finish the season with a mark of 9-0-1.

The championship game was a rematch of the regular tilt between the two sides that ended in similar fashion: a 3-0 victory for Rose-Hulman in Terre Haute.

In Friday night's game, the two teams battled for control early in the first half. The Rose-Hulman offense battered the Transy defense with numerous shot attempts, but the Pioneers' line held firm.

Then, in the 41st minute, a red card was shown to Zach Hill, resulting in a Rose-Hulman penalty kick that gave the Fightin' Engineers a 1-0 lead at the intermission.

Playing a man down, the Pioneers conceded a pair of goals over the final 45 minutes of action to relinquish the 3-0 final.

Spencer Waldrop and Tyler Dobbs combined to tally the only two Transylvania shots on frame in the second half.

Following the conclusion of the unconventional spring season, the Pioneers will now look ahead to the fall 2021 season that will kick off in September 2021.
