Carmel, Ind. - Three additional Transylvania student athletes have been named Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Athletes of the Week on Tuesday, bringing the total to four Pioneers on the week. Recognized for their outstanding performances over the past seven days, Emily Hestand is Softball Hitter of the Week, Diana Bruder is Women's Lacrosse Defensive Athlete of the Week, and Jessica Burton is Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week. 

Emily Hestand, a junior infielder from Versailles, Ky. (Woodford Co.) took home this week's HCAC Softball Hitter of the Week award. Her breakout performances over the opening weekend helped the Pioneers jump to a 4-0 start on the season. Hestand finished the week going a perfect 6 for 6 at the plate, adding seven RBI and a stolen base. She also hit her first home run as a Pioneer in a remarkable 28-0 win over Spalding University (Ky). 

Diana Bruder, a first year midfielder from Marietta, Ga. (Lassiter) claimed this week's HCAC Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week after filling the stat sheet in a tense 11-10 win at Wittenberg University. Already a major contributor as a first year player, Bruder's defensive abilities were on full display last Sunday as she caused four turnovers, grabbed four ground balls, as well as three draw controls. 

Jessica Burton, a senior from Catlettsburg, Ky. (Boyd Co.), is this week's HCAC Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week. Burton went 4-0 on the week at No. 1 doubles and No. 2 singles. Out of her four total matches played, Burton took all but six individual games. Her efforts lead the Transylvania women's tennis team to wins over Ohio Northern University and Greenville College.
