Carmel, Ind. - Transylvania women's tennis senior Jessica Burton has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week for women's tennis, the conference announced Monday.

Burton, a senior from Catlettsburg, Ky. (Boyd County HS) had a great start to the busy week ahead for the team in Orlando, Florida, with her performance on Sunday.

Against the Connecticut College Camels on Sunday, Burton played in No. 1 Doubles alongside fellow senior Porsche Robinson. The duo won 8-3. Playing No. 3 Singles, Burton went 6-1, 6-3, as the Pioneers defeated the Camels 7-2.

The honors mark the second time Burton has won conference Athlete of the Week, as she also won on February 22, for her efforts in that week. Burton's contributions to the win over Connecticut College make the Pioneers 12-2 on the season. They continue the pace this week taking on Bethel (Minn.) on Tuesday, March 15, and Roger Williams on Wednesday, March 16.
