Men's Basketball loses first away game to Boyce College

Pioneers 83 Boyce 95

LOUISVILLE Ky- The Transylvania Men's Basketball team fell short on their first away loss of the season 83-95 to Boyce College. The loss moves the Pioneers to 1-2 on the season.

Fighting from behind the majority of the game, Transy was able to take a brief 29-27 lead with 8 minutes to go in the first half. Both teams would shoot well as the Pioneers would shoot 46% from the field, but out paced by the 67% FG shooting from the Bulldogs, as they connected on 10-14 threes.

Jaylan Green made sure to get his, scoring 10 in the first half, leading the Pioneers. Off the bench, Freshman Drew Marshall played effectively, scoring 7 of his own this half. The Pioneers would go into half down 40-55.

Simon Smith dominated inside, collecting 9 rebounds, 6 offensive with Transy leading in second chance opportunities as the Pioneers would get 26 to Boyce's 5. Smith would finish with a total of 13 points. The Pioneers played 11 guys in sufficient minutes, attributing to Transy's dominating points off the bench differential at 36 points compared to the Bulldogs 14.

The Pioneers made a brief comeback, led by Matthew Teague, getting plenty of fast break points with the Pioneers earning 14 to Boyce's 4. Teague would finish with 15 points and 7 rebounds contributing to dominating the paint, which the Pioneers scored effectively in.

The three point differential was just too much for the Pioneer's, only shooting 30%. Four Pioneers would finish with double digits as Marshall would earn a career high with 10.

The Pioneers are back at home November 25th as Wheaton College visits the Beck Center at 6:00 PM.
