The Pioneers traveled to Sewanee for a midweek game over Spring Break. They played a tough goal for goal game with the Sewanee Tigers through the first three quarters before Sewanee pulled just out of reach for the Pioneers near the end of the fourth quarter. 

Senior Abi Waldron had a career high 22 saves in the game against 31 shots on goal. On the defensive end, Abby Rau added three groundballs and two caused turnovers along with five groundballs and two more caused turnovers from Charlotte Green. The defense worked as a collective in holding off the Sewanee Tigers for quite a few long possessions, showing their growth through the season as they close in on conference play.

Senior Mandi Rider led the Pioneer offense with five goals on seven shots. Senior Abbey Peterson scored her 100th career goal today in her five goal, one assist milestone game. Sophomore Diana Bruder added three goals and seven draw controls in the game. Charlotte Green, Linley Dawson, and Sophia Sparks also added one goal each to the Pioneer offense.

"Today wasn't an easy loss, but what losses are? This team continued to push and fight for each minute of the game. We had some great things happen during this game like Abbey Peterson hitting her 100th career goal and Abi Waldron having a career high with 22 saves. We head back to campus knowing what we have to work on to be ready for Saturday for our game versus Carthage," said Head Coach Rachael Bragg. 

To round out Spring Break, the Pioneers will host the Carthage Firebirds this Saturday at 11:00 AM at Pat Deacon Stadium.
