#13 Transy Softball hosted 12 teams in their Pioneer Classic this weekend, playing five games themselves. The Pioneers went 3-2 on the weekend against top ranked competition. On Friday, the Pioneers defeated Asbury 19-4 in game one. For game two, they faced George Fox, falling 2-6. On Saturday, they faced a tough #11 Linfield team coming up just short in a 0-2 final for game one. In game two, they defeated #25 Wash U with an impressive 8-3 game. For Sunday's final game, the Pioneers defeated DePauw 2-0.

Friday, 19-4 vs. Asbury:

Freshman Sophie Moshos recorded her fifth win on the year against the Eagles recording four strikeouts. The Pioneers gave her the lead going into the second inning after putting up a 14 spot in the bottom of the first. They tacked on five more runs in the bottom of the second leading 19-0 on 17 hits.

Friday, 2-6 vs. George Fox:

Junior Carlee Jeter was on the mound for the Pioneers in game two against George Fox, she recorded six strikeouts in six innings against the Bruins. The game stayed scoreless through three innings before the Pioneers struck first starting with an infield single by Stella Wulker. After Wulker stole second, Carson Murray had an RBI single to bring Wulker in.

A run in both the bottom of the fifth and sixth gave the Bruins the 2-1 lead, but Transy battled back with another run in the top of the sixth after Abby Frazier hit a triple to left and a sacrifice fly from Stella Wulker brought her in. Wulker was 2-2 on the day with the sacrifice fly, RBI, and run scored.

Saturday, 0-2 vs. #11 Linfield:

The Pioneers battled with #11 Linfield in a tough matchup with another top 15 team. Freshman Sophie Moshos took the mound again Saturday against the #13 Linfield Wildcats recorded two strikeouts and only allowed five hits and two runs. The game was scoreless until the bottom of the fifth when a sacrifice fly brought in Linfield's first run, they would score one more in the sixth. Senior Taylor Senter and junior Stella Wulker added a hit each for the Pioneers in the game. Shuck, Senter, and Murray were also able to get on base from walks, but were unable to have enough timely hitting to score.

Saturday, 8-3 vs. #25 Wash U

In game two on Saturday, the Pioneers bounced back against #25 Wash U, coming out strong against the Bears. They scored in four of the six frames they were at bat as they continued through the game with two in the second, one in the fourth, and one more in the fifth. Junior Carlee Jeter took the mound and earned her sixth win on the year with three strikeouts, backed by stellar defense.

Senior Annie Shuck led the Pioneers with a massive offensive game going 3-4, 4RBI, 2 HR, and 2 runs scored. Hadlee Carter went 2-2 with a walk and two runs scored. Taylor Senter followed going 2-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Emily Hestand also recorded a hit with 2RBI. Ry'Ann Tharp added her own RBI triple as well going 1-1, HBP, and a SAC bunt.

The offensive power proved too much for the Bears to attempt a comeback as the Pioneer defense never allowed more than one run per inning.

Sunday, 2-0 vs. DePauw

The Pioneers scored both runs in the bottom of the first. Junior Stella Wulker (1-3, HR, RBI) started with a homerun. Senior Taylor Senter (2-3, 1 run scored) kept the Pioneers going with a double to left and scored on an RBI single to center by senior Annie Schuck (2-2, HBP, RBI).

On the mound was junior Carlee Jeter earning her seventh win on the year. She had five strikeouts, including three straight strikeouts looking in the fifth, allowed just five scattered hits, and no runs.

The #13 Pioneers begin HCAC play on April 1st with a double-header against Anderson. Ranked the pre-season HCAC number one and last year's HCAC Regular Season Champions, the Pioneers have performed well in non-conference play and have set themselves up for an excellent conference run.
