For Senior Day, the Pioneers faced off against the Wittenberg Tigers. Prior to the game, each senior was recognized for their dedication to the program:
#2 Abbey Peterson is from Versailles, Kentucky. She is escorted by her mom and dad: Pearl and Dan Peterson. Abbey is a Marketing major and is planning to stay in Lexington, work and pursue a Master's in Sports Administration. Her end goal is a career in Sports Marketing. While at Transy, she has also been a member of Chi Omega and involved in the Student Activities Board for two years. For her favorite memory, she says: My favorite memory was probably receiving all-tournament honors my sophomore year along with some of the seniors that I looked up to so much and aspired to be like. I also enjoyed making memories with my teammates on our spring break trips. For her final thank you, she says: "I'd like to thank my roommates Lo, Man, Abby, and Sarah for always being there for me off the field. I'd like to thank my parents and all of my past coaches for never giving up on me. I'd like to thank all of my teammates and especially Waldron, Eve, and Linley for being my voices of reason on the field and always knowing the right thing to say. I'd also like to thank Coach Bragg and Coach Cassie for the past two years and everything they've done for me and this program."
#4 Abby Rau is from Dayton, Ohio. She is escorted by her sister Emily Rau, her mom Tina Gibbs, and her dad Fred Rau. Abby is a Marketing major with plans to stay in Lexington and get a job in marketing. While at Transy, Abby has also been involved in the Wings Up club and a member of Chi Omega. When asked for her favorite memory, she says: Playing Never Have I Ever as a team at the La Quinta junior year. As her final thank you, Abby says: "I would like to thank my family for supporting me in everything I do, Coach Bragg and Cassie for pushing me to be the best athlete and person I can be and lastly, my roommates, Claire Duck, and Abi Waldron; I couldn't have done it without you all."Â
#14 Mandi Rider is from New Holland, Pennsylvania. She was escorted by her parents Bev and Randy Rider. Mandi is a Neuroscience major with a Biology emphasis and a Sociology minor. She is planning to work in neuroscience research. While at Transy, Mandi has also been a member of Chi Omega and the 100 Doors program. When asked for her favorite memory, she said: Molly Cyrus in the locker room before every game. As her final thank you Mandi says: "I would like to thank all of my past coaches, but especially Coach Bragg for being someone who pushes me to be the best version of me while also being my go to when I am not feeling strong. Thank you to my family for all the road trips, good luck messages, and long phone calls to keep me going. Thank you to this team for being my second family and constantly making me laugh. Finally, thank you to my roommates for becoming my sisters, my life is forever better because of you all."Â
#19 Vianne Koshoffer from Cincinnati, Ohio. She was escorted by her mom Amy, her dad Martin, her sister Isabella, her partner Aaron, and her dog Zuri. Koshoffer is an International Affairs with a minor in German. She will be attending law school at the University of Cincinnati after graduation. While at Transy, she was also involved in One Team and served as a tutor in the ACE. When asked for her favorite memory, she said winning the first round of the NCAA tournament last year. For her final thank you Vianne says: "I am grateful for the friendships I made on the team and for Coach Bragg for helping me grow as an athlete and as a person."Â
#20 Sophia Sparks from Louisville, Kentucky. She is escorted by her mother Steffi Sparks. She has a triple major in English, French, & Religion with plans for a TA position in France. While at Transy, she has also played field hockey, been a member of Chi Omega, and the French Club. When asked for her favorite memory, she said: "Winning conferences, making it to the 2nd round of the NCAAs, & all the away trips with the team. For her final thank you, she says: Thank you to coach Bragg for always pushing me and helping me play the sport I love and thank you to my mom for all the support you've given me."
#21 Lauren Arena is from Atlanta, Georgia. She wass escorted by her mother Eileen Arena and brother Floyd Arena Jr. Lauren is a Psychology major and plans to move back home to Georgia after graduation to continue working and apply for an FBI fall internship. While at Transy, Lauren has also been a member of Chi Omega and the Wings Up Club. When asked for her favorite memory, she said: My favorite memory of Transy is meeting Mandi, Abbey and Abby the first night moving into college and turning that into a lifelong friendship I will forever hold near and dear to my heart. For her final thank you she says: "I want to thank all of my previous lacrosse coaches and friends throughout my 13 years of playing for their constant support and words of encouragement, Coach Bragg for not only being the best coach but mentor a student athlete could ask for, my dad, who i wish could be here today, for never giving up on me and pushing me to be the best version of myself and continuing my lacrosse career into college, and my mom and my brother for being here today; without them I wouldn't be the person I am."
#57 Abi Waldron is from Louisville, Kentucky and was escorted by her mother Sheila. She is a Finance major, with a Writing, Rhetoric, and Communication minor. While at Transy, Abi has been in leadership roles for Chi Omega, 2 Years as the Lacrosse representative in SAAC, 2 year First Engagements Scholar, One Team Finance Chair, the President of Food Justice. When asked for her favorite memory, she said winning NCAA's for the first time and sitting around the circle with my team just playing games and hanging out. For her final thank you, she said: "I would like to thank the one true person that has gotten me to this day, My mom, She is the reason I am even playing a sport and have the ability to go to college. She is the best person someone could know and I am thankful to be hers. Next, to my grandparents I love you so much. To my roommates and friends you all keep me laughing everyday. Talking to you is what gives me my smiles. I thank you all so much for the love and support through these years! Lastly, to my team and coaches my highlight of each day is seeing you all, you all see me at my highs and lows and still love me everyday. I don't know what I would have done without these people these last 4 years.Thank you Transy Lacrosse."
In the first quarter, the Pioneers scored three goals from Mandi Rider, Charlotte Green, and Diana Bruder. At the end of the first quarter they held the lead 3-2. In the second quarter, Sophia Sparks scored, assisted by Vianne Koshoffer. Koshoffer added her own unassisted goal to follow. Diana Bruder added another goal, assisted by Abbey Peterson. The Pioneers took a 6-3 lead into halftime.Â
In the third quarter, Transy scored the only goal of the quarter on a shot from Sophia Sparks, assisted by Abbey Peterson. By the fourth, Transy found a rally putting up six goals and holding Wittenberg scoreless. Green, Peterson, and Rider all scored unassisted. Peterson added another goal assisted by Bruder. In the final two minutes, the Pioneers were able to add two more quick goals: one from Linley Dawson with another assist by Vianne Koshoffer. The last goal was from sophomore TaNya Barbee, unassisted.Â
"This is a great team win today! And there's no better way to celebrate our seven seniors. Each individual player contributed to our success today. We connected with each other and played our game and were able to finish strong," said Head Coach Rachael Bragg.Â
