Box Score

BLUFFTON, OH - The Transylvania Men's soccer team (1-3-3) was back in action this week after having a lengthy break before jumping into Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) match play.

The First Half

In the first half Sophomore Nolan Yantz would continue to start in goal for the Pioneers as he would be tested from the start of the game onward, totaling 5 saves.  The Beaver attack was persistent within the first couple minutes into the game. Two minutes in the Pioneers saw their first deficit as the Beavers would strike first leaving the Pioneers in an early 0-1 hole. Transy would bounce back quickly with a goal of their own coming from junior, Andrew Ballard, scoring his first goal of the season finally yielding from his persistence of applying pressure from his wing position. The Pioneers would total 10 fouls this half capped with a yellow card in the 40th minute as they would slowly lose the momentum they had acquired from the goal until this half concluded, tied 1-1.

The Second Half

In the second half the Pioneers would continue much of the same as 7 out of the 13 shots taken from the Pioneers would come in this half, showing how even the attempts had been this contest. A noticeable change this half would be the prevalence of corner kicks as the Pioneers wouldn't get as many opportunities as in the first half, only getting 3 of their 10 this game. This half the Pioneers accrued 7 more fouls, totaling 17 on the game combining with Bluffton scoring twice this half to put it out of reach for Transy. As the Beavers scored in the 66th minute and the 73rd minute even Nathan White's offensive show with 4 shots of his own couldn't help the Pios.

Up next for the Pioneers is another away trip to Manchester University September 30th at 3:30 PM. The Pioneers will look to bounce back and secure their first HCAC win.
