MANCHESTER, IN- The Transylvania Men's Soccer team (1-4-3) continues their away play after coming off a loss at Bluffton University before the Pios come home to Lexington for a 4 game home stent. The Pioneers face Manchester University (4-0-5) who is coming off a 2-2 tie against Defiance College as this would be the first Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference game for both teams last week. 

The First Half

The Transylvania Pioneers started this game even for the first 10 minutes as both teams made runs without connecting on any attempts. Early in the 10th minute the Transy defense let one slip through the cracks after showing a strong formation at the start of the contest. Becoming unorganized and collapsing the formation ended up with the Manchester opening goal. This however didn't shake the mentality moving forward as the offense continued to make their runs testing the defense with plenty of shots of their own, out shooting Manchester in this half 11 shots to their 7. The Pioneers couldn't get one to fall even with several Pioneers attempting to gain the equalizer, but finding themselves snubbed by the defense. This half would end 0-1 in favor of Manchester 

The Second Half

The second half saw a highly competitive half as the Pioneers continued their attempts offensively posting a combined 7 shot attempts when factoring in corner attempts. This half the Pios ramped up their aggression, feeling the need to get a goal to even the game, racking up a total of 4 yellow cards to total 17 on the season, all of which worked against the comeback the Pios attempted to make. The Pios frantic play couldn't generate the mistake we were waiting on Manchester to make or frazzle the Manchester defense as the Pios faced stingy defense. This game would end in the score we had in the first 10 minutes as the Pios lose 0-1.   

Up next for the Pioneers is a 4 game home stay as the Pioneers face the Hanover College Panthers Wednesday October 4th at 7PM.
