CINCINNATI, Ohio - Behind a season high 16 points from
Sydney Wright and 16 points from
Laken Ball, the No. 2 ranked Pioneers defeated Mount St. Joseph 58-45 to earn their 49th straight win. The Pioneers overcame a slow first half and outscored the Lions 20-6 in the 3rd quarter to set themselves up for the eventual 13 point win.
With the win, Transylvania remains undefeated to improve to 16-0 overall and 9-0 in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference. Their 49th straight win ties North Dakota State's 49 wins set between the 1994-1995 seasons. Their next win will tie them with Amherst's 50 consecutive wins that were set between the 2005-2006 seasons.
For the first time this season, Transy trailed at halftime after getting off to a slow start in the first quarter. The Pioneers shot 20.6% in the first half, making just 6 shots while the Lions shot 26% and were just 8-30 from the floor. Transy went into the half down 22-23.
