ANDERSON, IN - Transylvania University picked up their second HCAC victory of the season on Saturday, defeating Anderson 3-2.

Anderson's Drew Vaughn would score on a penalty kick opportunity at 16:47 to give Anderson an early first half lead. Transy would respond moments later, with McKay Wheatley assisting Dylan Barnes for the first Pioneer goal of the afternoon at 19:21. Transylvania would find the back of the net again later in the half, with Reece Heisel scoring for the Pioneers at 32:36. Transy would take a 2-1 lead into the second half.

At the 59:08 mark of the second half, Anderson's Wesley Lewis would tie the match, scoring on the second shot opportunity of the half for Anderson. A competitive and hard played second half would see both teams struggle to land scoring opportunities. Transy would take nine shots in the second half, but it was the final one that would be the difference maker. With less than two minutes remaining in the match, Dylan Barnes would score on a free kick for the Pioneers at 88:24 to take a 3-2 lead for Transy, securing the victory for the Pioneers.

Head Coach Ben Federici was proud of the way Transy performed to earn the road HCAC victory.

"I'm extremely proud of the grit our players showed today," said Federici. "Anderson asked a lot of questions and made it really difficult on us today. We didn't play particularly well in the second half, but the boys continued to grind. Big players make big plays, and that's what we had happen. In key moments several players were able to step up and make key plays to help us win on both sides of the ball."

Transy continues the HCAC portion of their schedule on Wednesday, October 16th at Pat Deacon Stadium, hosting Earlham at 5:30 p.m.
