FRANKLIN, Ind. - The Transylvania Men's Basketball team improved to 18-6 overall and 13-4 in conference play after tonight's win over Franklin College. Three Pioneers finished the game in double-figures, helping secure the 86-67 win.
Transylvania faced the Grizzlies for the second time this season, in what proved to be a dominating win. Jaylan Green led the Pioneers with 17 points, 6 rebounds, and a season-high of 7 assists, making this his 24th consecutive game with double-digit scoring. Hunter Penn finished the game with 15 points and 8 rebounds while leading the Pioneers in free throws, which earned him a season-high of 5 free throws made. Zach Stahlman was the final Pioneer to finish in double-figures with 14 points. Stahlman also finished the night with a season-high of 4 three-pointers made, going 4 from 7 behind the arc.
The Pioneers battled in tonight's game that saw 4 lead changes and 4 ties, but outscored the Grizzlies 47 to 36 in the second half to walk away with the win. Transylvania shot 58.5% from the field while holding the Grizzlies to a shooting percentage of 39.7%. The Pioneers also grabbed 38 rebounds compared to Franklin's 27.
Transylvania's record is now their best overall record at this late in the season since the 2019-2020 season. This is the Pioneer's 37th all-time win vs. the Grizzlies.
Head Coach Brian Lane got his 370th win.
The Pioneers look to finish the regular season with senior day this Friday at home vs. Earlham with tip-off at 7:30pm. They also have the potential to set themselves up to secure the number two-seed for postseason play.
