LEXINGTON, KY. - The Transylvania women's lacrosse team faced a tough Otterbein team this evening and would ultimately fall short 14-5. They are now 1-1 on the season. This was the 7th all-time match-up between the two teams. Transylvania won 7 draw controls in the first half and collected a total of 18 groundballs on the night compared to Otterbein's 10.
Senior Sophia Sparks was the first Pioneer to score a goal in tonight's game. She would also earn her second assist of the season. Leading the scoring for the Pioneers was junior dual sport athlete Charlotte Green, making her first appearance of this season after concluding her season with the women's swim and dive team last weekend. She totaled 2 goals and 4 shots on the night while winning 1 draw control. Once again, Lula Thompson proved to be strong in the draw circle, winning 6 draw controls on the night while adding a goal. Junior TaNya Barbee also added a goal on the night. Freshman Sofie Garrett earned her first collegiate assist in tonight's game while having 2 caused turnovers. Goalkeeper Jana Carlisle kept a calm demeanor on clears, allowing the Pioneers to have 20 while totaling a career-high of 11 saves.
The Pioneers will remain home at Pat Deacon Stadium with a game next Saturday, March 2nd, vs. Sewanee at 12 pm.
