Women's Lacrosse earns road win over Wittenberg

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - The Transylvania Women's Lacrosse team traveled to Wittenberg for their second away game of the season. With a strong first-quarter performance, the Pioneers set the tone and earned the 14-8 win over the Tigers. As a team, Transylvania remained dominant in draw controls, winning 16 on the day. The Pioneers also earned a new season high in clears, successfully completing twenty-four. 

A total of seven Pioneers contributed to the scoring category in today's win. Junior Diana Bruder led the scoring with a season-high of 5 goals, earning her 15th career hat trick just 6 minutes into the first quarter. She also picked up 2 ground balls and had 3 caused turnovers on the day. Freshman Sofie Garrett earned her second career hat trick, scoring 3 goals while adding an assist. Junior TaNya Barbee scored 2 goals and earned 2 assists, making this her sixth consecutive game scoring a goal. Senior Linley Dawson led the team in ground balls, picking up a total of 8. She also added 1 goal and 1 assist along with 3 caused turnovers. Both fifth-year senior Sophia Sparks and junior Lula Thompson scored a goal and earned an assist while winning 3 draw controls. Finishing out the scoring for the Pioneers, junior Macy Hobbs-Powell added a goal along with 3 caused turnovers. Sophomore Jayden Otto earned a career-high in ground balls, picking up 4 on the day. Junior Charlotte Green had 2 assists and won 6 draw controls. Goalkeeper Jana Carlisle earned another win in the cage while totaling 10 saves.

Head Coach Rachael Bragg had this to say after the win, "Today was a great team win all around. I'm very proud of the way they finished off Spring Break strong and look forward to continuing to build off of today's success". 

The Pioneers will remain on the road for their next contest, facing Wooster on Saturday, March 23rd at 12 pm.
