CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Transylvania Women's Lacrosse team was on the road again for a rainy day conference match-up, facing the Mount St. Joseph Lions. This was the tenth all-time meeting between both teams. The Pioneers did not let the weather affect them, remaining perfect in conference play with a 23-1 win over the Lions. Transylvania was perfect on clear attempts and totaled a season-high of 11 goals in the first quarter.
10 Pioneers scored in tonight's win, once again led by junior Charlotte Green. The HCLC offensive athlete of the week, Green had her second consecutive game scoring five goals. She also added three assists and won 10 draw controls. Junior TaNya Barbee scored a hat trick while earning three assists. Senior Linley Dawson earned her first hat trick of the season while collecting two ground balls and having two caused turnovers. Fifth-year senior Sophia Sparks also scored a hat trick and earned an assist. Freshman Sofie Garrett had an equal number of goals and assists with two, and won one draw control. Also earning the same amount of goals and assists was junior Lula Thompson, who had two. Junior midfielder Macy Hobbs-Powell scored two goals and collected 3 ground balls. Junior Diana Bruder added a goal and an assist and won two draw controls.
Senior defender Amanda Kanatzar and freshman defender Emilie Gaudron both scored in today's win. Gaudron also earned a new season high in ground balls, collecting 3. Sophomore Jayden Otto had another strong defensive performance, leading the team in both ground balls and caused turnovers with four. Sophomore goalkeeper Jana Carlisle totaled 5 saves on the night.
The Pioneers will be home at Pat Deacon Stadium for their next contest, facing Rhodes College on Friday, April 12th at 6 pm.
