LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Transylvania Women's Lacrosse team bounced back with a huge road win on Wednesday night. The Pioneers thumped Spalding in the first ever matchup between the 2 teams 21-4 behind stellar performances on offense and defense. With the win, Transylvania opens Heartland Collegiate Lacrosse Conference play 1-0.
In goal,
Jana Carlisle had 8 saves on the night and held the Golden Eagles to 4 goals. The 4 goals was a season low given up for Transylvania.
 8 different Pioneers combined for the season high 21 goals.
TaNya Barbee and
Charlotte Green both led the Pioneers with 4 goals each. Green added 4 assists on the night.
Sophia Sparks and
Diana Bruder both earned hat tricks, and add an assist for 4 points on the night.
Sofie Garrett,
Linley Dawson, and
Lula Thompson all added 2 goals in the win.
Macy Hobbs-Powell finished with a goal on 2 shots.
Transylvania dominated from the start, and ended the first quarter up 9-0. They would add 6 more goals in the second, and shut out the Golden Eagles in the third quarter while adding 3 more. TU would outscore Spalding 3-1 in the 4th for the convincing win.
Transylvania outshot Spalding 31-15, and would cause 18 Golden Eagle turnovers.
The 21 goals scored is the most in a win since May 6th of last season when they defeated Franklin 27-4. They'll see the Grizzlies again this Saturday at 1 PM.
