Women's Lacrosse earns shutout win over Franklin

LEXINGTON, KY. - The Transylvania Women's Lacrosse team was back home for their second conference game of this season. The Pioneers picked up right where they left off, earning a 24-0 shutout win over Franklin. As a team, Transylvania cleared with 94% efficiency and picked up 28 ground balls compared to Franklin's 9. The Pioneers also tied their season high in draw controls, winning 21. 

A total of 12 different Pioneers scored in today's win. Junior Charlotte Green led the scoring, earning a new season-high in goals, scoring five while adding two assists. Green also won eight draw controls and had five caused turnovers. Junior TaNya Barbee also added four goals. Junior Lula Thompson also earned a new season-high in goals, scoring four, while also winning two draw controls. Freshman Sofie Garrett scored two goals and earned three assists with two caused turnovers. Senior Linley Dawson added two goals and earned one assist. 

Also adding to the scoring was Junior Diana Bruder with one goal and one assist. Defensively, Bruder had three caused turnovers, picked up six ground balls, and won six draw controls. Junior Macy Hobbs-Powell also added a goal along with three ground balls, three caused turnovers, and three draw controls. Fifth-year senior Sophia Sparks added a goal and earned a new season-high in assists, totaling four. Sparks also totaled three caused turnovers on the day. Defensively, sophomore Jayden Otto had a season-high day, picking up a total of six ground balls while totaling four caused turnovers. 

In today's game, Freshman Ellie Falk, Junior Kiana Murawski, and Freshman Emilie Gaudron all scored their first career goal. Senior defender Amanda Kanatzar also scored her second career goal. In goal, Jana Carlisle had a perfect performance, saving two shots for the shut-out win. 

After the game, Head Coach Rachael Bragg said, "We reached all of our team goals for our personal standards in this game. We got a lot of people involved in different areas of the game. We look to stay focused heading into next week".      

The Pioneers will continue conference play with a midweek game on Wednesday, April 10th at Mount St. Joseph at 7:00 pm.
