WILMORE, KY - Transylvania Men's Soccer defeated Asbury 4-2 on Tuesday, earning an important road win as the season begins to transition to HCAC play for the remainder of the schedule. 

Asbury would strike first in the contest, as Salat Kipterit scored in the opening two minutes of the match. Transy would answer with their first goal of the night at the 11:46 mark by Nick Haskins. At the 20:02 mark Kipterit would once again find a scoring opportunity for Asbury, as the Eagles would take the 2-1 advantage. 

Transy would find their offense to end the first half, scoring twice in the final fifteen minutes of the period. A foul on Asbury's Dalton Fleshood would give Nathan White a scoring opportunity from a penalty kick, tying the match 2-2 at the 27:52 mark. As the first half came to an end, the Pioneers would retake the lead, as Alvaro Gonzalez would score at 42:12. He was assisted by Nathan White. 

Transy would find their final goal of the evening at 71:22 from Dylan Barnes, courtesy of an assist from Josh Carr. Despite several shot attempts as the half progressed, the Pioneers would maintain their advantage, winning 4-2. 

Head Coach Ben Federici was happy to see his team build off of their previous performance as they prepare for conference play.

"The guys played well tonight," said Federici. "They worked incredibly hard as individuals, but more importantly they worked as a unit and trusted each other. It's that trust in each other that led to a couple of great team goals. Looking forward to continuing this momentum into conference play."

Up next for Transy is a 3:30 p.m. match with Berea College at Pat Deacon Stadium on Sunday, September 29th. The Pioneers will celebrate Senior Day ahead of the 3:30 p.m. start time.
