LEXINGTON, KY - Transylvania closed their regular season with an 11-1 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) victory over Franklin on Wednesday at Pat Deacon Stadium.Â
The Pioneers scored four goals in the first half, the first coming from
Stone Work, assisted by
Dylan Barnes. Work scored in the ninth minute, and just over five minutes later the Pioneers would find their second goal.
Cole Varela landed a shot in goal, giving the Pioneers a 2-0 advantage in the 14th minute. Three minutes later, Varela would assist on another goal for the Pioneers, scored by
Nathan White in the 17th minute.
Nick Haskins would score the final goal of the half for Transylvania in the 21st minute, with the Pioneers taking a 4-0 lead into the half.Â
Varela would open the second half with a goal, assisted by
McKay Wheatley, in the 50th minute. Wheatley would then assist on another Pioneer goal three minutes later, assisting on a goal from
Collen Gudorf. Transylvania would then score three additional goals within the next three minutes, as
Dylan Barnes (57:45), Gio Chavez (58:21) and
JT Roden (59:03) would all score to extend the Transylvania lead to 9-0.Â
Lucas Pereira would score the goal for Franklin in the 63rd minute, while Transylvania would score two final goals to close the evening as
Alvaro Gonzalez (67:15) and
Kaelen Bauersfield (89:06) closed the 11-1 victory.Â
Transylvania claimed the 2025 HCAC Regular Season Championship,finishing 9-0 in conference competition in the regular season. It is the first time in school history that the program finished 9-0, and the third time in conference history a team finished at 9-0. The Pioneers finished the regular season 13-2-2.Â
Transylvania will have a bye in the HCAC quarterfinals, and will start HCAC postseason play on Wednesday, November 5th, at 7:00 p.m. at Pat Deacon Stadium.Â
