LEXINGTON, KY -
Jack Miller scored four goals for Transylvania on Friday, but none bigger than his overtime goal to secure a victory over the nation's top scoring team, Mount Union, 12-11.Â
Ben Gaccino,
Kade Kruger and
Andrew Welch scored in the first quarter for Transylvania, as the Pioneers took a 3-2 lead into the second quarter. Gaccino would score again in the second, followed by the first of
Jack Miller's four goals, that sent Transylvania into the half with a 5-2 lead.Â
Miller would score in the third, along with
Luke Hinton and
Josh Harney, but the fourth quarter would be a thriller that went into the final seconds, as Transylvania and Mount Union exchanged big plays, with Mount Union scoring three goals in a one minute span to send the game into overtime. Miller would score in the extra period to claim the victory for Transylvania, 12-11.
"Today was an absolute battle with a team that is running on a ton of confidence," said Head Coach
Logan Otto. "We are excited to get a win in Pat Deacon that we can build upon going into this season. We are seeing our offense really grow up in this first half of this season in addition to our defense continuing to develop as they took on the top scoring team in the country."
Transylvania returns to action on Saturday, March 30th, hosting HCLC opponent Anderson at Pat Deacon Stadium.Â
