Lexington, KY – The Transylvania Pioneers completed a successful weekend series against Anderson University, erupting for a 12-7 victory in the final game on Saturday afternoon at Legends Field. The Pioneers secured the series win after splitting game 1 and 2 of the series, with their offense performing exceptionally well throughout the game.

Anderson took an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning, but the Pioneers responded quickly in the bottom half. A sacrifice fly from junior designated hitter Houston Manning brought home senior third baseman Baxter Tedesco, cutting the deficit to 2-1.

The Ravens added two more runs in the top of the second, but Transylvania chipped away again in the bottom of the third. Baxter Tedesco reached on a fielder's choice, driving in freshman center fielder Ethan Dillon to make it 4-2.

The game remained close until the bottom of the sixth when the Pioneers' offense exploded for four runs to take the lead. Senior catcher Caleb Bowers launched a three-run home run to left field, scoring freshman right fielder Max Finn and sophomore left fielder Chris Hedinger, putting Transylvania ahead 6-5. Ethan Dillon then stole home later in the inning to extend the lead to 7-5.

Transylvania continued their offensive onslaught in the bottom of the seventh, scoring five runs. Max Finn singled in a run, followed by an error that allowed two more Pioneers to score. Junior shortstop Seita Shiratori then capped off the inning with a two-RBI single, making the score 11-6.

Anderson added a run in the top of the eighth, but the Pioneers responded in the bottom half with a solo home run from senior second baseman Henry Mitcham, bringing the final score to 12-7.

Offensively, the Pioneers were dominant. Caleb Bowers led the way with a home run and three RBIs. Henry Mitcham also homered and had an RBI. Seita Shiratori drove in two runs, and Baxter Tedesco, Houston Manning, Max Finn, and Ethan Dillon each contributed an RBI.

Senior pitcher Connor Arnold started for the Pioneers, going 3.0 innings. Fifth year Gabe Dillard (2-0) earned the win in relief, pitching 1.1 scoreless innings.

With this decisive victory, the Transylvania Pioneers secured a series win against Anderson University, improving their overall record to 11-10 and their HCAC record to 4-3.
