LEXINGTON, KY - Transylvania University Women's Lacrosse celebrated six senior pregame on Saturday against non-conference opponent Ohio Wesleyan University. The Pioneers fought hard and showed moments of brilliance, but fell short losing 16-6.
Ohio Wesleyan found the back of the net first just three minutes into the game. After a second Battling Bishop goal,
Charlotte Green scored her first goal of the game. Ohio Wesleyan continued to apply pressure by making the score 3-1. Minutes before the end of the quarter, a goal by
Diana Bruder brought the Pioneers back within striking distance. At the 12:40 mark in the second quarter, Sophie Garrett would find
Diana Bruder who would go on to score the game tying goal. After a 3-0 scoring run by Ohio Wesleyan,
Charlotte Green would find the cutting
Lula Thompson to bring Transylvania back within 2. 55 seconds later,
TaNya Barbee score her first goal of the game, making it a one goal lead for the Battling Bishops. Ohio Wesleyan would close out the half scoring four goals.Â
After another quick goal to the start the half by Ohio Wesleyan, Sophie Garrett would again facilitate for the Pioneers and find
Lula Thompson for a Pioneer goal. The Battling Bishops continued to apply pressure and score as the the third quarter closed. In the final quarter, Transylvania's offense proceeded with determination by finding shots on the offensive end of the field. The competitive game would close with a final score of 16-6.Â
The Transylvania Pioneers are looking onward to their next match against conference opponent Anderson on April 1st. The game will take place in Anderson, Indiana and will begin at 5:00 PM.Â
