MONTGOMERY, AL - Transylvania's NCAA Tournament run came to a conclusion on Friday, falling to Berry 1-0 in an elimination game.Â
In an afternoon where both teams shined defensively, the only run of the game would come in the bottom of the sixth inning as Berry's Bennett would score off a sacrifice fly to left field from Greeson.
Avery Parsons and
Reagan Rouleau landed on base in the top of the seventh, but Steczynski's fly ball to left field would be caught, ending Transylvania's 2025 campaign.Â
Parsons, Rouleau, Steczynski, Goddard and Tharp would record hits in the loss.
Raegan Gibson would pitch four innings for the Pioneers, giving up only three hits and earning one strike out.
Natalie Contreras would close for Transylvania, pitching two innings and giving up three hits and one run, striking out one batter.Â
Transylvania's season concludes with an overall record of 32-8, 14-2 in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC), earning the HCAC regular season and conference titles.
Shawn Hendrickson was named HCAC Coach of the Year,
Raegan Gibson was named HCAC Pitcher of the Year and
Emilie Young earned HCAC Newcomer of the Year. The Pioneers had six players appear on HCAC All-Conference teams.Â
