ELIZABETHTOWN, KY — Transylvania earned an 8–0 shutout victory over Denison on Friday evening.
The Pioneers opened the scoring in the first inning when Emilie Young drove in Avery Parsons with an RBI single. Transylvania added two more runs in the second on an RBI single from Jessica Strickland and an RBI double from Lexi Morlan.
Transylvania broke the game open in the fourth inning. Ella Steczynski delivered a two-run triple and later scored on an RBI single from Malana Hamm to push the lead to 6–0. Steczynski capped the scoring in the sixth with a two-run double.
Steczynski led the offense with two hits and three RBI, while Emily Shearer recorded two hits and scored three runs. Young added two hits and an RBI. Maddie Goddard earned the win in the circle with five scoreless innings, allowing just two hits and striking out four. Natalie Contreras closed the game with a scoreless inning and two strikeouts.
Transylvania returns to action at the Pioneer Classic on Saturday with two matchups, the first with Millikin at 11:00 and the second with Adrian at 3:30.
