Pioneers Fall To Hope

LEXINGTON, KY- Transylvania lost their first home game of the season to Hope, 14-7, at Pat Deacon Stadium.

The Pioneers were led by Huck Campbell  who scored two goals during the loss. Transylvania finished with 46 shots, including 26 on goal, along with 21 saves and 24 turnovers. The Pioneers also posted 27 clears and collected 23 ground balls.

Huck Campbell put Transylvania on the scoreboard first. However, Hope College scored a few minutes later with the equalizer goal. The score remained 1-1 after the first quarter. Hope College scored their second goal to retake the lead 2-1. The Flying Dutchman took control of the game by scoring five straight goals. Josh Harney scored his first goal to make the halftime score 6-2. 

Transylvania was making a comeback after halftime scoring two goals by Sam Archer and Andrew Welch respectively. However, Hope scored two more goals to make the score 8-4 in flavor of the Flying Dutchman. While Jack Miller scored his first goal on the afternoon, the visiting Flying Dutchman were leading 8-5 after third quarters. 

Transylvania continued to get back in the game in the fourth quarter as Ben Gaccino scored his first goal of the game.  However, the Flying Dutchman scored third  more goals to make the score 11-6 before Campbell scored his second goal. The Flying Dutchman scored three more goals to secure the 14-7 win. With the loss, Transylvania drops  to 7-3. 

The Pioneers return home on Saturday , April 18, 2026, to face Hanover College. Face-off is set for 4:00 p.m.
