Pioneers Shut Out Hanover in Navy Week Game

LEXINGTON, KY — Transylvania delivered a dominant performance Friday evening at Legends Field, shutting out Hanover 15-0 in a seven-inning run-rule victory.

The Pioneers wasted no time setting the tone, scoring five runs in the bottom of the first inning. Chris Hedinger and Trevor Watkins each drove in runs during the early rally, while aggressive baserunning and errors by Hanover helped Transylvania quickly build a commanding lead.

Transylvania continued their run in the second inning with a two-run home run from Ethan Dillon to extend the lead to 7-0.

The Pioneers stayed hot in the third, adding four more runs. Seita Shiratori delivered a two-RBI triple down the right field line, and Dillon struck again with his second home run of the game, a two-run shot to extend the lead to 11-0.

Transylvania added to its lead in the fourth on a solo home run from Hedinger before tacking on three more runs in the fifth inning to secure the run-rule victory.

At the plate, Transylvania totaled 16 hits in the win. Hedinger led the way with a perfect 4-for-4 performance, including a home run and four RBI. Dillon had a standout night with two home runs, three hits, and four RBI, while Watkins added two hits and two RBI. Kaden Ford also contributed with three hits and an RBI, and Shiratori chipped in two RBI.

On the mound, Drew Bowles was outstanding in his start, tossing 7 scoreless innings while allowing just two hits and striking out 15. He kept Hanover off balance all night and worked out of the few jams he faced to preserve the shutout.

With the win, Transylvania improves to 17-8 on the season.
