HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, FL - Transylvania University's men's golf team completed the opening round of the NCAA Division III Men's Golf National Championship on Tuesday as weather delays forced the suspension of play late in the day. Round one will resume Wednesday morning prior to the start of round two.
The Pioneers currently sit tied for 15th place overall alongside Calvin, John Carroll, York (Pa.) and Oglethorpe after posting a team score of 291 through the opening round.
William Carr paced Transylvania on day one with an even-par round of 71. Carr recorded four birdies during his opening round and enters Wednesday tied for 28th individually.
Tom Buchert and Andy Steed each carded rounds of 72 (+1) for the Pioneers. Steed highlighted his day with an eagle on the par-3 eighth hole, while Buchert added three birdies in his round. Ty Ruttinger finished the opening round at 76 (+5), and Connor Calhoun posted a 77 (+6).
