BEREA, Ohio — Stone Work found the back of the net with two seconds remaining in regulation to lift Transylvania University men's soccer to a dramatic 1-1 draw against Baldwin Wallace on Saturday at Tressel Field at George Finnie Stadium. The result moved the Pioneers to 3-2-1 on the season.
After a scoreless opening half, the match remained deadlocked deep into the second. Baldwin Wallace broke through in the 83rd minute when Davis Van Every scored off an assist from Nathan Gray at 82:19 to give the Yellow Jackets a 1-0 advantage.
With time running out, Transylvania continued to push for an equalizer. Work put an attempt on goal in the 88th minute that was saved, but the Pioneers created one final opportunity. At 89:58, Work found the back of the net to level the match at 1-1 just before the final whistle.
Work led the Pioneer attack with five shots, three of which were on goal, and scored Transylvania's lone goal. Nick Haskins added two shots with one on target, while Josh Carr and Kellen Crouch each put an attempt on goal. Transylvania finished with 11 shots, including eight in the second half, and placed six on frame.
Ethan Drew played all 90 minutes in goal and turned in an eight-save performance. Drew recorded seven saves in the opening half as the Pioneer defense kept Baldwin Wallace off the scoreboard despite 11 first-half attempts. .
