Mount Berry, Ga. – The Transylvania men's soccer team punctuated a successful trip to the Peach State with a 2-0 win over the Berry College Vikings Sunday afternoon at Bob Pearson Field.

The Pioneers improved to 4-0 after posting their third straight shutout. Transylvania wrapped up its two-match trip to the Berry Invitational with 180 minutes of shutout football, hand-in-hand with two victories.

Freshman forward Griffin Lamb delivered his second consecutive game-winning goal, a 38th-minute strike that pushed the Pioneers ahead 1-0. The Pioneers converted on a thrilling run originating out of a counterattack. Making a run up the right side, a long lob was sent in which glanced off the hands of Berry goalie Carson Oakes. Lamb, jogging up the weak side, arrived to the box right on time to redirect the deflected ball back into goal for the 1-0 lead.

With the lead in hand, Transylvania battened down the defensive hatches while going back to work on offense. The Pioneers added some late gloss in the contest when senior striker Riley Calhoon took a setup pass on a give-and-go and did the rest, dancing through multiple defenders before blasting a shot into the bottom right corner of the net for a 2-0 lead at the 80^th minute.

Transylvania and Berry each mustered 10 total shots, while sophomore keepers Drew Grisham and Chandler Gaunce conspired to make three saves.

Transylvania returns home to host rival Centre College on Thursday, September 14 at Pat Deacon Stadium.
