Carmel, Ind. - Transylvania women's tennis first-year
Katherine Taylor has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference women's tennis Athlete of the Week,
the conference announced Monday.
Taylor, a first-year from Burlington, Ky. (Beechwood) was exceptional for the Pioneers throughout the week as they played in Orlando, Florida. Taking on Bethel, Pacific, and Carthage College, Taylor went 3-0 in singles, playing in both No. 4 and No. 5 singles. She also went 3-0 playing in No. 2 doubles, playing alongside
Grace Gardner and
Sheila Cetina.
The honors mark the third time a Pioneer has won the award for women's tennis in just the month of March alone, after
Porsche Robinson was named on March 1, and
Jessica Burton was named on March 14.
On the week, the Pioneers went 1-2 as they faced some tough competition and came up just short to Carthage and Pacific. However, Taylor and the Pioneers played strong throughout and look ahead as they are currently 14-4 total on the year.
Up next for Transylvania is Senior Day at Top Seed Tennis Club in Nicholasville, Kentucky, against Berea College with a 12:00 noon scheduled start.
