Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer shutout Anderson 4-0 on Senior Day

LEXINGTON- Transy Men's Soccer improved to 2-6-3 and 1-3 in HCAC play with a 4-0 shutout over Anderson University Sunday afternoon. The Pioneers celebrated five seniors before the game, honoring Spencer Waldrop, Jeremy Mason, Jacob Renneker, Luke Harrington, and Drew Harrod.

Transy added to the festivities with a big win a huge win for their seniors. Transy outshot the Ravens 18-9, putting up one of their best offensive games this season. The Pioneers controlled the whole game, dominating through offensive pressure, causing Anderson to play more defensively to keep the pace in Transy's advantage.

Sophomore Dylan Barnes got the party started for the Pioneers earning his second goal of the season after receiving the assist from Drew Harrod giving Transy the 1-0 lead 5 minutes in. Just a couple minutes later Nathan White got the second goal of the game in the 8th minute, capitalizing off the assist from Cole Varela earning his first career assist to put the Pioneers up 2-0. 

Wrapping up the half, Transy scored their 3rd goal coming in the 33rd minute as Gus Dickman netted the pass from Nick Haskins. It was the second goal of his career and it gave Transy a big lead heading into the half.

Freshman McKay Wheatley would score the final goal for the Pioneers, earning his first career goal as seasoned junior Andrew Ballard set him up with a cross for the eventual goal. Nolan Yantz earned the shutout, collecting 5 saves on the day with the defense repelling the Raven attack each time. 

The win moves Transy to 1-3 in HCAC standings, giving them their second win of the season. The Pioneers stay at home as they continue conference play, facing Mount St. Joseph University Wednesday October 11th. The Pioneers are 7-0-1 all time against the Lions. It'll continue their four game home stand.

"I am happy for the guys today to get a good result," Head Coach Ben Federici said. "They've been working hard for awhile and finally got a reward. It just can't stop here."
