Career games for multiple Pios, Men's Lacrosse wins 21-5 over Augustana

Our Pioneers were on the road for the final time in the regular season today as they completed their back to back against Augustana. The Pioneers are bouncing back after a defeat in yesterday's matchup against Illinois Wesleyan. Continuing conference play the Pioneers a win today would put the Pioneers over .500 in conference play. This would be the case as Transy would win 21-5 moving to 3-2 in conference.

The First quarter for the Pioneers proved to be the beginning of an offensive onslaught as Transy would score a total of 9 goals this quarter. Ryan Geisler would be the first crack in the dam as his goal would be assisted by Tai Stormont. The next three goals would be scored by Dalton Hubbs as these three in a row along with his other shots have combined to now put him as the program shot total leader. Casey Fagan would join the fray as he would net the next two goals for Transylvania before Stormont, Hinton, and Hubbs would finish up the quarter. 

The second quarter would slow down for both sides as Transy would see the tandem of Ryan Geisler and Tai Stormont continue with Geisler scoring and Stormont assisting. Dalton Hubbs would score 1 more before half assisted by Alex Madson. Defensively the Pioneers did well collecting 73 ground balls this game while winning 22 of the 30 faceoffs. This game would go into halftime 11-5. 

The Pioneers played the second half with even more dominance than the first as Augustana would be held scoreless by Jackson Wilson this half while the Pios would tack on 10 more. Dalton Hubbs would score 2 more this quarter ending his total at 7 goals on the day. Hubbs has continued to not just break the record books but also would have season high in the following categories: Shots on goal with 10, goals with 7, assists with 2, points with 9, caused turnovers with 4, and ground balls with 7. Luke Hinton would score in the 3rd after Hubbs where he found himself having career highs in; shots on goal with 2, goals with 2, and points with 3. His goal was assisted by senior, AJ Teague. Teague would also have a fantastic defensive game collecting a season high 7 caused turnovers and a season high 7 ground balls. 

Casey Fagan would go on to score two more goals this game as he would also have a career day as he would earn new career highs in the following categories: Assist with 2, points with 6, caused turnovers with 3, and ground balls with 6. Alex Madson would score unassisted before Preston Wienberg would total 3 goals of his own first at the end of the 3rd and then 2 more in the 4th. Preston had career highs in the following categories; shots on goal with 4, goals with 3, points with 3. Senior Ethan Krammer would also score unassisted for the Pioneers as he would score his first career goal at the 4:13 mark.

After the game head coach Logan Otto had this to say:

"We battled a tough Augustana team and we finished with a much needed CCIW victory. We are excited to head home with a win and a lot of contributions from multiple athletes in this game. "
