HANOVER, Ind. - Behind a season high 25 points from
Hunter Penn, a 26 point night for
Jaylan Green, a double-double by
Matthew Teague who finished with a season high 18 points. and clutch shooting by
Colby Napier, Transylvania Men's Basketball defeated Hanover College 108-102 in double overtime to improve to 6-1 in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference. With the win, Transy sits atop of the HCAC standings.
Transy shot 48.5% in the first half, making 17 shots and holding Hanover to 25 points to lead 42-25 going into the second half. The Pioneers were 4 of 8 from three point range.
Transy struggled to stop Hanover in the second half. The Panthers shot 58% in the second half, and was 6-13 from three point range. Hanover mounted a comeback and outscored Transy 56-39 in the half, capping it off with a game tying shot with 1 second left to force overtime.
In the first overtime period, Hanover led by 3 points with less than 10 seconds remaining, but
Colby Napier's clutch three point shooting tied the game with 5 seconds remaining. He'd score 5 of Transy's 14 second overtime points.
Transy finished the second overtime period 4 of 5 from the floor and hit free throws late to close out a 108-102 win at Hanover.
Hunter Penn returned to the starting lineup after being out from injury and scored a season 25 points, shooting 75% from the floor, and finishing with 13 rebounds to earn his second double-double of the season.
Jaylan Green finished with a team high 26 points. He now averages 21.1 on the season.
Matthew Teague scored a season high 18 rebounds while grabbing 10 rebounds for his third double-double of the season.Â
Zach Stahlman scored 13 points and was 5-6 on free throws.
Transy outscored Hanover in the paint 62-50 and outscored the Panthers on points off turnovers 23-18. The Pioneers scored 21 fast break points in the win.
Transylvania is 10-1 in their last 11 games, and is off to their best start since the 2010-2011 season. They face Rose Hulman this Saturday at 3 PM.
