RICHMOND, Ind. - The Transylvania Men's Basketball team stayed hot this afternoon and won their 9th consecutive game after a 23 point win on the road at Earlham College. 5 different Pioneers reached double figures in scoring as
Hunter Barr finished the game with a season high 15 points.
Transylvania jumped out to an 8-0 lead and led as much as 21 points in the first half. The Pioneers went into the half up 44-29.
Earlham made things interesting in the second half, using hot shooting to pull within 8 points with just under 15 minutes to play. Transylvania got their lead back up to 10, but the Quakers scored 4 unanswered to bring the game within 6 points. However, it was the closest the Quakers would get as Transylvania held Earlham to just 6 points in the final 10 minutes to pull away with a 80-57 win.
Matthew Teague earned his second double-double of the season with his 10 point, 10 rebound performance.
Jaylan Green led the Pioneers in scoring with 19 points.
The Pioneers are off to their best start in over a decade and are 5-0 in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference, their best start since the 2018-2019 season.
The Pioneers continue the new year this Saturday at home against Anderson University at 4 PM. Transy has won 5 of the last 6 meetings over the Ravens.
