LEXINGTON - The Transylvania Men's Basketball team improved to 16-4 overall and 11-2 in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference after a dominating 87-64 win over Hanover College. The Pioneers had four players finish in double-figures in the win. The win keeps Transy tied for first in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference.
The Pioneers earned the first win over Hanover at home since the 2021 season and won the season series over the Panthers for the first time since 2012. The 23 point win is the largest margin of victory ever for Transy against Hanover.
Jaylan Green led the Pioneers with 21 points to continue his streak of reaching double-figures in every game this season.
Daniel Mullins finished the game with 13 points and was 3 of 4 from three point range.
Colby Napier was 4 of 9 from three point range for 12 points.
Matthew Teague came within one point of earning a double-double. He led Transy with 10 rebounds in the win.
Transylvania saw a 17-12 lead turn into a 17-20 deficit in the first half, but broke a 33-33 tie late into the half with a 7-0 scoring run to lead 40-33 heading into the second half. From there on out it was all Pioneers as the offense started to heat up. Transy would shoot 17 of 31 in the second half while making 7 three pointers to score 47 second half points while the defense held Hanover to just 10 field goals for 31 points in the final 20 minutes.
Transylvania's 11-2 record is the best conference record the Pioneers have had since the 2012-2013 season when they reached the NCAA tournament and finished 20-8, 14-4.
